Northwestern seeks to educate students in the theory, practice, and impact of AI through curriculum available to learners at many levels, from undergraduates to multiple graduate programs, as well as executive and professional education.
Housed within the McCormick School of Engineering, the Computer Science Department serves as a home and partner for many AI-focused and -related programs throughout the University. Computer Science offers undergraduate majors and minors, as well as graduate degree programs.
Housed within the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, the Statistics and Data Science Department is committed to teaching the theory and practice of statistics and data science to undergraduate and graduate students and to conducting original research in the theory and methodology of statistics and data science and their applications. Statistics and Data Science offers undergraduate majors and minors in statistics and separately in data science, as well as graduate degree programs in statistics and data science.
Housed within the McCormick School of Engineering, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department conducts groundbreaking research and prepares the next generation of engineers to address global challenges. Areas of focus include computational imaging, computer architecture, embedded systems, information theory, machine learning and signal processing, physical electronics, photonics, quantum devices, VLSI, and wireless communication.

Master's Degree, PhD, and Certificate Programs
Offered by the McCormick School of Engineering, this program combines mathematical and statistical study with instruction in advanced computational and data analysis. Students study predictive, descriptive, and prescriptive analytics to learn to identify patterns and trends, interpret and gain insight from vast quantities of structured and unstructured data, and communicate their findings in practical, useful terms.

This joint master’s degree program offered by the Kellogg School of Management and the McCormick School of Engineering offers a unique, blended approach to the teaching of business innovation and the complex technologies that drive it forward. Unlike other programs, the MBAi Program integrates both business strategy and analytic technologies throughout the curriculum to deepen understanding of the interdependent relationship and dialogue that exists between these disciplines.
Offered through a collaboration of the McCormick School of Engineering and the School of Communication, this joint PhD program in Computer Science and Communication draws on Northwestern's strong support for interdisciplinary research and attracts students who are eager for academic experiences that cross traditional departmental boundaries.
